New mpox case in Thailand
An mpox case has been detected in Thailand. It was in a European man who arrived from Africa last week. Health officials said that the strain has been confirmed as Clade 1b
Thongchai Keeratihattayakorn, head of the Department of Disease Control, announced on Wednesday that the 66-year-old patient arrived in Thailand on August 14 from an African country, which has not yet been confirmed.
The patient has been quarantined in hospital.
The man had transited in a Middle Eastern country, but the identity of the country was not named.
