Case of Mpox reported in India

Case of Mpox in India – A 38-year-old man from Malappuram district in Kerala has been detected with Mpox clade I on Monday (today, 23rd September) , reporting the first case in India. The patient had recently returned from the United Arab Emirates.

This is the more serious of the clades of the virus.

African Countries  – Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda

Outside of Africa – Sweden, Thailand, India

NiV-Nipah Virus

This follows a recent case of Nipah Virus reported in the same area.
