Morocco reports Mpox case 

Morocco’s Ministry of Health announced on Thursday 12th September 2024 that an mpox case has been confirmed in Marrakech.

The Moroccan authorities are tracing and monitoring the health of the people that the man has had contact with. 

The male is reported to be receiving treatment and is in a stable condition.

This is the first case reported in this country.

Vaccines have recently arrived in the Democratic Republic of Congo which is the centre of the most recent outbreak of the disease.

The outbreak was first declared a public health emergency on 14th August 2024
